Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to take a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
